Car won’t start, or the electrics act up
If the engine won’t turn over, the battery is the first thing we test. A weak battery and corroded terminals are common causes. A burning smell is different. That needs a mechanic right away.
Today’s cars run on a web of wires, relays, sensors and computers. Our mechanics trace the fault to its source, then fix it. That can be a fuse or a bulb. It can also be a relay, a sensor or a computer module.
Signs of an electrical fault
- A burning smellStop and have it checked right away. Hot wiring can do real damage.
- The engine won’t turn overA click, or nothing at all, when you try to start it.
- Dim lightsHeadlights or dash lights that fade, mostly at idle.
- The stereo or other electronics cut out or act upWindows, locks or the radio work one day and not the next.
- Corrosion on the battery terminalsA white or green crust on the posts blocks the flow of power.
Why not wait on an electrical fault
A small electrical fault left alone can lead to a bigger one down the road. A fault that comes and goes is still a fault. Book it in while the car still starts.
What our electrical repair includes
We test before we replace, so the fix goes to the part that failed.
Battery and terminal checks
We test the battery and clean or replace corroded terminals.
Fuses and bulbs
Blown fuses and dead bulbs are quick fixes once the cause is found.
Relays, switches and sensors
We test these parts and replace the ones that have failed.
Computer modules
Our diagnostic tools read the modules on all makes and models.
Wiring faults
We trace broken, shorted or corroded wires back to the source.
Doing the job yourself? Our parts counters can supply batteries and ignition parts. Request a part or see auto parts.
What sets the price
With electrical work, finding the fault is often the bigger part of the job. Here’s what moves the price.
| Job | What sets the price |
|---|---|
| Battery and terminals | The battery your vehicle takes |
| Fuses, bulbs, relays and sensors | The part, and how hard it is to reach |
| Wiring faults and modules | The time it takes to trace the fault |
Tell us the year, make and model and what the car is doing. Some problems need a look before we can price them.
Why choose us for electrical repair
Right the first time
We find the real cause before we replace parts. That’s how we get the job done right the first time.
Fair prices
We charge a fair price. We tell you what we found, and you decide what work goes ahead.
